Some people might have to deal with some kinds of cancer diseases. One of those cancer diseases is the colon cancer. Since cancer has been named as the number one killer after the heart attack, how is the colon cancer survival rate number?

Well, according to some surveys, the colon cancer survival rate is depending on the tumor location. According to the European Journal of Cancer, the location of the tumor could determine the survival level. In United States, the last five years survey result showed that the ascending colon cancer (the closes position to the small intestine) has the 63 percent survival rate. In the transverse colon, it has the smallest survival number, only about 59 percent and in the descending colon cancer case; the survival number is about 66 percent. It means, five years after the diagnosis of colon cancer was finally known, 59 to 66 of a hundred patients were stayed alive.

But actually, according to some other surveys, the colon cancer survival rate numbers are different in some different countries. Each country has different number and according to the experts said; it could be happened because there are so many factors that impacted the patients that could give some effects to the surviving ability. For example, the average number in America is about 62 percent and in Europe only about 42 percent. The survival rate was also determined by the condition of the patients. What was the condition of the patient when he or she was firstly diagnosed? If it was in the early stages, the survival rate number could be bigger, but if they were in the late stages, certainly it would decrease the survival numbers. No matter what happen, the experts have tried so hard to discover some methods to help the patients. They are still experimenting for many ways, and we are looking forward for the results.
